Ella Toad is born in Hazel Village, Brooklyn. She likes to play kickball, so she wears special red booties to shield her webbed feet from the impact. Then, when she gets hungry for waterlily bulbs, she hangs her booties from a shrub and paddles into the pond barefoot.
Ella is made of green organic cotton jersey. She is stuffed with washable polyfill — she says it gives her just the right amount of buoyancy when she swims. Her eyes, hands, and feet are hand-stitched with cotton embroidery thread.
Ella wears an organic cotton romper, in a print specially designed by Winter Water Factory, and of course her signature red booties. Her outfit is removable, so If Ella gets dirty, she and her clothes can be hand-washed and air dried. When Ella gets to your house, she might have cabin fever; just give her some fresh air and a kickball and she should be fine.

Hazel Village was founded in 2010 by Jane Van Cleef and have since been making quality toys that can stay with children as they grow up — first as soft, snuggly friends, then as companions for storytelling and dress-up play, and eventually as treasured keepsakes. Hazel Village is named after the American Hazelnut tree: a source of delicious nuts, magical divining rods, useful twigs for basketry, and food for caterpillars.
