Max has a hollow tree behind his house. He has installed numerous shelves and cubbyholes inside it, and there he keeps cool things that he finds: bits of crockery that he makes into wind chimes, good paper bags he's saving, presents from his friends, jars of pickles and jam.
Max comes dressed in an adorable indigo blue cotton romper, with a velcro closure in the back. His outfit is removable, so Max can share and trade clothes with the other Hazel Village animals, and extra outfits can be purchased seperately.
Hazel Village was founded in 2010 by Jane Van Cleef and have since been making quality toys that can stay with children as they grow up — first as soft, snuggly friends, then as companions for storytelling and dress-up play, and eventually as treasured keepsakes. Hazel Village is named after the American Hazelnut tree: a source of delicious nuts, magical divining rods, useful twigs for basketry, and food for caterpillars.
